A Buddhist proverb says, "Just as rain leaks through an ill-thatched house, so lust leaks through an un-trained mind."

พุทธภาษิตหนึ่งกล่าวไว้ว่า "ฝนย่อมรั่วรด เรือนที่มุงไม่ดีฉันใด, ราคะย่อมรั่วรดจิตที่ไม่ได้อบรมฉันนั้น"

When you visit a Thai temple, you will always see Buddha images in various poses. There are in fact over 100 different poses which depict moments in his life. The following poses are some examples.

Bodhisattva [โบ-ดิ-สัต-วะ] = พระโพธิสัตว์

Disciple [ดิส-ซิ-เพิล] = พระสาวก

Concerning your question asking me about the terms "พระโพธิสัตว์" and "พระสาวก" in English, I have looked up in dictionaries and found that we use the word " Bodhisattva" for "พระโพธิสัตว์" and "disciple" for "พระสาวก" jaaaaaaaa.

Attitude of Defeating Mara [แอ๊ดทิทยูท ออฟ ดีฟีทติ้ง มารา] = ปางมารวิชัย



This attitude comes from the story of how the Buddha meditated to overcome the fears and temptations sent by the demon Mara to defeat the Buddha. Instead, the Buddha called the Earth Goddess as the witness of his merits he had made. The Earth Goddess squeezed her hair, releasing flood waters that represented his merits and the water swept away the Demon Mara and all the temptresses he had released.

Few days ago, I visited Wat Pra That Bang Phuan with Kana PraThat Keaw Ma Nee Chot which is a temple in Nong Khai province. There is a old pagaoda houses the holy relics of Lord Buddha. Other interestings in this temple are as the "Sattamahasatan", or the seven Great sites, where constrcuted to commemorate the seven sites visited by the Buddha after attaining enlightenment these are.

I found a word that is very interesting which is "Fruit enlightenment". Personally, I understand that it might mean "ผลสมาบัติ". Can we use the "Fruit" represent "ผล ของสมาบัติ"? P' Sati plase help me to find out if this word is compatable. Thank you.

From what I have read, the word fruit means results but the word "ผลสมาบัติ" according to Luang Pho Ruesi Lingdam means "คำว่าผลสมาบัติท่านหมายถึงการเข้าสมาบัติตามผลที่ได้ผลสมาบัตินี้จะเข้าได้ ต้องเป็น พระอริยเจ้าตั้งแต่พระโสดาบันขึ้นไป ท่านที่เป็นพระอริยเจ้าที่ไม่ได้สมาบัติแปด มาก่อน ท่านเข้านิโรธสมาบัติไม่ได้ ท่านก็เข้าผลสมาบัติ คือท่านเข้าฌานนั่นเอง ท่านได้ฌาน ระดับใด ท่านก็เข้าระดับนั้น แต่ไม่ถึงสมาบัติแปดก็แล้วกันและท่านเป็นพระอริยเจ้า จะเป็น พระโสดาสกิทาคา อนาคามี อรหันต์ก็ตาม เมื่อท่านเข้าฌานท่านเรียกว่าเข้าผลสมาบัติ ท่าน ที่ไม่เป็นพระอริยเจ้าเข้าฌาน ท่านเรียกว่าเข้าฌานเพราะไม่มีมรรคผลต่างกันเท่านี้เอง กิริยา ที่เข้าก็เหมือนกัน ต่างกันแต่เพียงว่า ท่านเป็นพระอริยเจ้า หรือไม่ใช่พระอริยเจ้าเท่านั้นเอง"

So, I think the word 'ผลสมาบัติ' is not the same as 'fruit enlightenment' na ka.

จากที่พี่ได้อ่านมา คำว่า 'fruit' นั้นหมายถึงผลของสิ่งใดสิ่งหนึ่ง แต่คำว่า "ผลสมาบัติ" ตามที่หลวงพ่อฤาษี ลิงดำกล่าวนั้น จะแปลดังที่กล่าวไว้ข้างบนจ้า
ดังนั้น พี่จึงคิดว่าสองคำนี้แปลต่างกันนะคะ

Walking Buddha = พระพุทธรูปปางลีลา



Art historians proposed that the walking Buddha in Sukhothai Art must have been created to represent an episode from the life of the lord Buddha when he descended from the Tavatinsa Heaven to the city of Sankassa.

However some scholars have suggested that the creation of the walking Buddha may have also been inspired by the practice of ‘Vipassana’ mediation known as “The Four Satipatthana ”. The Satipatthana involves the monks’ four applications of mindfulness leading to Enlightenment. One of the four applications is called ‘kayanupassana-satipatthana,’ which is a contemplation of the body or physical phenomena, walking, standing, sitting and reclining, to attain mindfulness.
